Engineered Wood
Cleaning and Maintenance
Your TrueWood Engineered Wood floor can last you a lifetime, but still needs to be looked after properly and protected. With suitable and regular treatment it is possible to extend the life of the finish.
The following items are required to clean your engineered wood floor:
-
Vacuum Cleaner
-
Broom
-
Microfiber Mop/Cloth
-
Ciranova Clear or White Flooring Soap (oiled floors) Hard Floor Fresh (varnished floors).
Step 1:
Remove all dust and loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner and broom. Also use a vacuum cleaner with a soft flooring attachment, broom, slightly damp cloth or microfiber mop to remove dirt, grit and debris.
Step 2:
Apply the flooring soap to the wood with either a microfiber mop or cloth in the direction of the wood grain. Standard soap to water ratio is 1 cap of flooring soap to 1 litre water. Rinse the dirty cloth in clean water. Never clean with water afterwards, as you may lose your protective layer formed by the soap.
Use approximately once a month depending on the amount of dirt or amount of traffic/usage the floor gets over a given period.
Follow these additional tips to get the most out of your new Truewood Engineered floor:
-
Fit all your furniture with felt pads to prevent unnecessary scratching. Do not slide heavy furniture to move it, lift it instead.
-
In the event of water or other liquid spills, dry the floor immediately. Coffee, red wine and sauces must be wiped off straight away, because they will stain. Please get in touch with us for advice on removing any particularly tough stains that you may be struggling with.
-
It is only necessary to thoroughly clean the floor by hand when it is very dirty. Never use too much water, since this may cause the wood to expand and lead to damage.
-
If the oiled wooden floor becomes dull and dirty, it is better to rinse with Ciranova® Intensive Cleaner. After cleaning with Intensive cleaner apply Ciranova maintenance oil.
